UK Standards & Building Codes
All BRK Dicon smoke alarms are manufactured in accordance with and are certified to BS 5446 Pt. 1:2000, and they clearly display the BSI kitemark - License No. 7960 . The building regulations 1991 cover minimal provision for individual dwelling houses, flats and maisonettes and houses of multiple occupancy. It states there should be a minimum of one smoke alarm per storey of a dwelling and all alarms should be mains operated (ideally with battery back up) and shall be interconnected. BRK Dicon smoke alarms are suitable for some systems installed to BS5839: Pt. 6:1995 which is the code of practice for new and existing dwellings. Buildings and systems are graded according to their use and size. Wiring alarms shall conform to BS 7671: 1992, the IEE wiring regulations.
Wiring diagrams
Maximum interconnect bus length 150 metres (500 feet) for 1.5mm2 cable. All interconnected alarms must be powered from the same fuse box or breaker box. Installation per current IEE regulations for electrical installation.
