BRK Dicon History
Dicon was acquired by BRK in late 2006 and now boasts the widest range of battery and mains alarms in Europe. The joining of both companies has lead to our combined strengths being greater than the sum of our parts. Our product quality is undisputed, market knowledge and experience is deep and our customer-focused attitude ensures that we continue to offer market leading products and services.
BRK was formed in the USA by Mr Burke, Mr Roberts and Mr Kimberline.
1967 - Invention & manufacture of first domestic smoke alarm.
1969 - Achieved world's first approval for a battery powered smoke alarm to the American UL standard.
1976 - First smoke alarm sold in Europe.
1990 - BRK manufacturing to newly published British Standards BS 5446 Pt.1:1990.
1995 - First domestic CO alarm launched.
1997 - Designed world's first smoke + CO combined detection into a single alarm.
2000 - BS 5446 Pt.1:200 standard upgrade.
2004 - New Photoelectric range launch.
2006 - BRK Brands acquired Dicon Safety products.
